Tuesday Tales: Writing Pink

Welcome to Tuesday Tales, a weekly blog featuring authors posting excerpts from works in progress based on word and picture prompts. I’m pleased you stopped by today. This week’s word prompt is pink. Enjoy the other talented authors of Tuesday Tales.

A tiny smile played upon Epona’s lips as she set forth to the Pink Moon ritual. The myrrh she had previously dabbed on the soles of her feet blended with the scent of jasmine and roses. Tiny sparkles flashed around her—faithful fire fae lighting her way. Lifting the hem of her gown, she glided up the hill, scarcely aware of tufts of grass or the odd loose pebble. Spirit was already humming within her body, lifting to meet the consciousness of the night sky.  Her gaze lifted to glittering stars and the subtle brightening of the eastern horizon that portended moonrise.

Atop the hill, she focused on feeling the verdant earth, firm and warm beneath her slippered feet.  Closing her eyes, she touched the imbedded crystal at her navel and inhaled deep, centering breaths to achieve a receptive meditational state. Once she was grounded and steady, she allowed the energy to begin a slow ascent. Heat suffused her hands, and she opened her mind to elevate to a higher, more goddess-like state.

She relaxed with the gentle but powerful feminine energy that billowed up from the vast depths below ground. In turn, from above, the benign star energy rained down upon her. The two powers danced up and down her spine, flared for an instant at the point of her navel, at last ending in a warm pulsing glow in the region of her heart chakra. Thank you, great earth and sky beings, for your support tonight. Thank you also to our special guest. Welcome, Selene, friend and sister goddess.

Selene rode in from the east, driving a silver chariot with magnificent steeds snorting their excitement. Her long hair floated out behind her. Petals sprinkled from her fingers. Rare fragrance made music in the night. The air pulsated with the sublime presence of the ancient moon goddess.

I hope you enjoyed the snippet based on the word prompt pink. Thanks for stopping by. Read the other exciting excerpts at Tuesday Tales.

  1. Wow, I love the picture you painted so beautifully with words. I could feel the petals and smell the scent.

  2. A pink full moon ritual – a perfect scene to go with the word – at our own pink moon! Awesome!
I loved how you wrote: …feeling the verdant earth, firm and warm beneath her slippered feet.
I would have written …feeling the earth beneath her feet. The details you add are why I love reading your writing so much!

  3. Beautiful imagery! I love all the detail that you provide. I can see and feel the scene. Great job!
