Vintage Friday: It’s Your Music 1965

Groovy music from the Sixties, man, on this Vintage Friday! We used to dance “the Jerk” to this tune from 1965.

It wasn’t until after the turn of the current century that I discovered that one of my favorite musicians Doug Sahm, head of the Tex Mex band Texas Tornados, was none other than Sir Douglas himself! Back in 1965 the band name, manner of dress, and flawless rock beat had quite a few people thinking he was British. Another day we’ll pay homage to the Texas Tornados, but for now get your groove on with Sir Douglas!

Cheers & Happy Reading!

  1. Oh, the 1965 year was marked by Rita Pavone, Celentano, Gianni Morandi’s songs. It was mostly Italian music for us around here. It was a year of change, anyway. A change in the leadership of the country that will bring a bit of prosperity and relaxing in the lives of people. Not much, but anyway. . .
    Thanks for the video!

    1. Over here I remember 1965 as being pivotal too. In the latter half of the sixties it seemed the Viet Nam War was going downhill and people were objecting more and more to it. It became the sixties of the flower children leading into psychedelic rock.

  2. I love a lot of the music from the 60s. I was too young to appreciate it at the time, but discovered it later in the 70s. This is a song and a band I wasn’t familiar with. Thanks for the vid. And I can see why many people thought he was British!

  3. I think someone coined the phrase “mover and shaker” after seeing me dance. When I move, I shake! But I love the rhythm in this song!
