Tuesday Tales: Writing Persuade

Welcome to Tuesday Tales, a weekly blog featuring diverse authors posting excerpts from their works in progress based on word and picture prompts. I’m pleased you stopped by today. This week’s word prompt is persuade. My snippet is from Silver’s Angel, a standalone Wytchfae prequel to Lord of Fire. Enjoy the other authors of Tuesday Tales.

Lucien set down the tray. He had hoped to awaken her with a morsel of steak au jus. Maybe that would give her the strength to shift back to human form. But there was no sleeping white puffball in his bed.

He searched under his bunk and in the tiny half-closet. He stopped and looked around. There was no nook here that she could hide in. “Where are you, Angel?” The raspy sound of his voice sent him closer to the edge. Heart hammering, he took off to examine the rest of the bus. Instead of flinging things about, he took care with his movements. Past images of Angel in the hotel parking lot, cornered by the snarling Doberman, flicked through his mind. She had later brushed aside his concern, saying she could take care of herself, but he had seen her quivering, her wide eyes. If something had scared her in her current condition, he didn’t want to add to it. Still, the guys were making enough commotion on their own, now that he had disturbed them.

He finally made it up front. There had been no sign of her. “Up! I need to check under this seat.”

Zack stood, tossing aside his magazine. “You’ve got everyone in a freaking uproar. What the hell are you looking for, dude?”

Lucien clamped his mouth shut, catching Stalk’s eye down the aisle. The drummer was the only one aware of Angel’s true nature. Well, other than Mosh. Realization hit him like a streak of lightning. He called to Stalk. “Where’s Mosh?”

“In the can, I expect, puking up his liquid breakfast.”

Dammit! He hadn’t checked the can. He stomped down the aisle and flung open the door. Mosh leaned against the sink, his face ashen.

“Where’s Angel?”

“H—how would I know? I ain’t seen your little–”

Lucien pulled him out by the shirt collar. “Since you made that remark about her in my hearing? Let me persuade you nicely. One chance only. Where is she?”

I hope you enjoyed the snippet based on the word prompt persuade. Thanks for stopping by. Read the other winning excerpts at Tuesday Tales.

Cheers & Happy Reading!
