Tuesday Tales: Writing Flower

Welcome to Tuesday Tales, a weekly blog featuring authors posting excerpts from works in progress based on word and picture prompts. I’m pleased you stopped by today. This week’s word prompt is flower. Enjoy the other talented authors of Tuesday Tales.

They, a male and female: Arms waved and gestured in rhythmic sequence. Mouths opened in purple song, as the earth turned to its appointed station. In movement and music they greeted her.

She: Wrapped in honeyed slumber, she turned to one side, stretching in abandon before curling into comfort. She may as well have rested on wisps of clouds. Her lips upturned into faint smiles, as dream images flitted behind twitching eyelids. She reached and tried to grasp onto them, but to no avail. They were on wings and more fleeting than her flying thoughts.

They: Fingers fluttered through the air, vibrating rings of glowing circles.

She: A green scent stirred her memories. Grass throbbing through black dirt, leaves fresh and bursting with sunshine and vitality. She breathed it in and rolled over, stretching once more. A spray of droplets sprinkled her face. Uplifting, it entwined with the green.

They: Leaping and swirling, giddiness overcame their solemn undertaking. Ribbons of light trailed from their soles.

She: A murmur escaped her lips. Spicy notes, both a sound and a fragrance, blended with the rising sweetness. The blended accord burst into a crescendo. Her eyes fluttered open, rapt at the glory of scent, sound, and color.

They: “Greetings, Hyacinth, beautiful flower.” Laughter twinkled around their words.

She: The first breath of spring drew her up into a graceful elegance. Smiling, she welcomed the world.

I hope you enjoyed the snippet based on the word prompt flower. Thanks for stopping by. Read the other amazing excerpts at Tuesday Tales.
