Themis’ 13 St. Patrick’s Day Treats

Ireland6Happy St. Patrick’s Day and welcome to “Everyone’s Irish Today,” Themis, Goddess of Justice! Who better to decide on 13 special St. Paddy’s Day treats? Themis

As my daughter-in-law suggested, the movie P.S. I Love You with hunks Gerard Butler and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Themis and I could listen to the song The Galway Girl over and over and over.

The movie Leprechaun. It’s the fae world gone bad! Did you know there’s a leprechaun museum?

A trip to Ireland beats all. Friends Karen and Lori took one a few months ago and brought back fabulous pictures, including the one above.

PearSchnappsGreen drinks. My Mom’s restaurant always had green beer on St. Paddy’s Day. I don’t care for beer, hence this pear schnapps.

The song When Irish Eyes Are Smiling by Bing Crosby. In fact, all Irish songs and those about Ireland! Do you remember the snappy little ditty called The Orange and the Green?

Four leaf clovers and the verdant smell of clover.

Green jewelry and stones. Especially jade!jade3crpd The one on the right is a gift from my mother on my 16th birthday.

jade2The Irish brogue. Double yum! Themis is fanning herself.

The color green. Pantone has selected emerald as the Color of the Year for 2013. http://www.pantone.com/pages/index.aspx?pg=21055 You can already see it everywhere, from nail polish to clothes to décor. Delightful!

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Our local one takes off from the Courthouse at 5:30 this afternoon.

Fun pranks. Check out these: http://chemistry.about.com/b/2013/03/15/st-patricks-day-science.htm?r=facebook

The Irish poet William Butler Yeats. “Who will go drive with Fergus now and pierce the deep wood’s woven shade?”

Celtic mythology and the fae world. Epona, the goddess of horses and fruitfulness, was the only Celtic deity to also gain prominence in the Roman pantheon. In my Wytchfae series of books, the fae world is one of the dimensions that intersects ours. To get there, you have to cross hell and high water– but it can be done! What’s scarier is when they come here.
