Having recently joined RRBC, this is my first block party with the crew. I look forward to meeting and getting to know everyone. Paying homage to our SPRINGTIME theme, here are some delights that are meaningful to me as a Florida native and inspirational as a paranormal fantasy romance author. Enjoy!

SPRINGS –  Our family likes weekend day trips, and Juniper Springs is one of our favorites.

RIVER – My two little grandsons enjoy boating on the Withlachoochee River.

BEACH — We especially love to zoom over to the beaches on the east coast of Florida.

POOL – With summer coming, it is time to plan poolside grilling and cocktails.

For me, the hardest part of writing is the initial 1st rough draft. It often feels like jumping off a cliff. To combat my resistance, my habit is to work on one of my 1st rough drafts seven days a week. The daily routine lessens the cliff sensation. Do you play any tricks like that on yourself? Still, I need my fur fae, Marigold, (and an endless supply of coffee) to see me through.

Thank you for visiting my part of Rave Reviews Book Club’s Springtime Book & Block Party, Conjuring the Magic in Romance! I hope you enjoyed our Florida waterworks of springs, river, beach, and pool–which one do you like best?

  1. Hi Flossie, good to know you. Yes you have joined a very unique group of authors who have made it their business to read and review each other’s books. Authors get great support here, and you get as much as you are willing to give. Have a great party! 🙂

  2. Hi Fossie! Fun post and great pictures! I would have to choose between the ocean and spring! Although, the kitty is the prettiest! I hope your first blog tour is a blast for you and glad you joined us 🙂 I love forward to reading your work!

  3. Nice getting to know you Flossie. The scenery in Florida is breath-taking. Nice place for writing. Thank you for sharing with us.

  4. Flossie, as a Floridian I also love the sun, water, and landscape. And, as a cat lover I think Marigold is pretty awesome. Glad you have joined us here at RRBC. Have a fun day today.

  5. I was lucky enough to visit Florida and loved it! I would have to say the pool and cocktails would be my favourite!

  6. I was just camping at Lake Louisa in Clermont. There was no swimming because there were gators in the lakes, but we did get some fishing in. 😊 I’m gonna have to look into those springs. They are beautiful. 😍

  7. Hi Flossie! So happy to meet you and get to know you better. I know the feeling you’re talking about but I haven’t discovered any tricks. My sun was vacationing in Kissimmee, Florida a couple of weeks ago. He had a blast. Loved your photos.

  8. Hi Flossie,
Congratulations on joining RRBC. I think you’ll find a great bunch of writers, but more than that a support system. Love the pictures.

Hope you have a great blog tour!

  9. I’ve been to Florida, but never had the time to enjoy it. It was a work trip. Hope you’re enjoying the benefits of membership in RRBC, and get a bunch of traffic to your site today.

  10. Beautiful blog! I’m writing my second book. The first book in the series takes place in northern Florida. It might be different than your town since Oasis has vampire residents. When I write, I lose myself in the words for hours. A whole day can pass. I sometimes forget to eat. Therefore, I schedule a few days of intensive writing. I allow a few weeks to go by and then I do it again. But first, I reread and edit what I’ve written already. And that is my painful process.

    1. Thank you for sharing your process, Susanne. I am always enthralled at how we work. Well, my Florida towns have fairies, witches, and goddesses, so a few vampires might be more than welcome:) So nice of you to stop and comment. Best of luck on your second book.

  11. I loved living in Ft Lauderdale and being able to walk to the beach (I lived on Middle River Dr so was very close), and just relax. When I write, I tend to do put down a few chapters, and then go back and rewrite them before continuing.

  12. Tarpon Springs is my go-to, there on the Gulf Coast north of Tampa/St. Pete. Thanks for the introduction, Flossie!

  13. Great pictures. I have a swim spa the kids call a pool so I sit in the whirl pool and watch them swim or play lol. We have no beaches near here. Pet Marigold for me! Good luck on your party!

  14. Hi, Flossie! Welcome to the RRBC family. What a delightful post to assist us in getting to know a little more about you and your work! I do hope you continue to enjoy the remains of your day.

  15. Love the colorful blog and the way you presented your content. Glad I stopped by your party.

  16. It’s great to get to know more about you, Flossie, and what lovely pictures! Best of luck with everything 🙂

  17. Hi, Flossie! Wonderful to make your acquaintance! 😀 And what a great party post – I love your photos and Marigold looks like a really laid-back beautiful fae, but I think I love your coffee cup most of all! Hope the rest of your party keeps swinging! 😀

    1. Thank you, Jan, for your warm welcome! I’m glad you like my party post. Marigold is a verbal fur fae but sweet as pie. It’s interesting the cup took your fancy. A mermaid is the logo for our local RWA chapter that we started here, and the coffee cup reminds me to keep writing.

  18. Hi Flossie. It sounds like you live in a beautiful place. Isn’t water amazing? Where I live, I love going to falls, the river and the beach. I especially enjoy going there after spending a few hours writing. the best therapy there is. Congratulations on your books. Nice to meet you.

  19. Great post. I tend to write my first draft by hand and then type it up. I find this quicker in the long run as I write really quickly. The only problem is that my handwriting is abysmal and I can’t always decipher what I’ve written!

    1. Wow, Lizzie, I admire that you write your first draft by hand. That’s impressive. I remember doing so much by hand in the old days. Now my hand would fall off. I do like journal writing by hand, though. I know what you mean by the abysmal handwriting after a while. Thanks for stopping by!

  20. Hi, Flossie! Sorry I’m a little late to the party, but I’m so glad I didn’t miss it. Such beautiful, tranquil pictures to share with us. It’s lovely to get to know you and your work a little better. Thanks for sharing this with us. 🙂

  21. Hi, Flossie! I have been enjoying your Block Party stop. The pictures really add a nice touch. (Beautiful cat!) I lived in Ft. Myers for a couple of years, so I know just how beautiful Florida can be all year round. Best wishes to you.

  22. Sorry I missed your post on the prescribed day, but I got tied up. Glad I finally made it, but missed out on the great prizes. I am torn between the river photo and the beach. I live on a river and love the fresh water, but also have spent a lot of time on beaches including the east coast beaches of Florida . . . Cocoa Beach, West Palm, and a couple others. Welcome to #RRBC and I look forward to getting to know you better too. Great post and Party!

    1. You have a lot of experience on rivers and now, I find out, on beaches, too–how wonderful. Those are beautiful ones you mentioned. We are usually farther north, New Smyrna and north, Ormond, etc. I’m glad you liked the pictures, Larry, and thank you for stopping by!
