Just last week I found out the world lost 1960s singer Lesley Gore on February 16, 2015. I don’t know how I missed her passing, but February is usually a tough month for me from the standpoint of sinus / throat health. I may have been “out of it.” Her songs were an important part of my growing up, especially It’s My Party and Judy’s Turn to Cry. This picture shows her with short hair, but I remember it as thick, blonde hair that curled up on the ends like a summer’s perfect ocean wave. One of my memorable moments in life occurred when a boy I had a slight crush on told me I looked like Lesley Gore. A few minutes later I found out my father had just died, and the Leslie Gore connective image is branded in my mind forever. Did you dance to It’s My Party? Here a You Tube version from 1965.

I recall this song being on the wireless often. I’m quite fond of it. I can understand why it brings heart wrenching memories for you.
It’s a tune that will get stuck in your head for sure, Daisy. Thanks for stopping by.
I hadn’t realized she passed away, either, but I did love that song, although I didn’t discover it until years after it’s release. Thanks for the glimpse back and the memory, Flossie, although . how heart wrenching to have it connected to your father’s passing.
Well, I would have remembered the song because it was very popular right then, but not hearing it right at that moment, if the bad news hadn’t seared it into my mind.
Thank you for sharing, Flossie! Especially the heartbreaking memory linked to her song/image.
Hope you’re feeling better. Have a lively weekend!
Thank you for the well wishes,Carmen. I have been down with sinus– hate it so bad. Hate being sick. Feeling better tonight.
I am so glad to hear it!
