November—for many of us it brings thoughts of family, turkey, and pumpkin pie. Wishing you happiness, prosperity, and good health! In the meantime, here’s some fun reading. Welcome to Tuesday Tales, where authors write weekly excerpts incorporating word and picture prompts. The picture I chose this week is of a cute high heeled shoe. My heroine, Angel, would love a pair of these. The excerpt is from Silver’s Angel, a paranormal fantasy romance in the Wytchfae Series. When you finish reading my snippet, make sure to visit all the talented authors of Tuesday Tales.
Lucien thrust bills at the taxi driver, waved away the doorman, and hurried through the revolving entrance. Tapping four fingers on the counter, he waited for the solo desk clerk to finish a telephone conversation before seeing to him. He was thankful there wasn’t a line waiting to be checked in. Two or three people in the lobby looked his way, their body language showing recognition. He quickly turned his attention back toward the clerk. Usually generous with his time, at the moment he was too anxious to get upstairs to engage in small talk with strangers. Finally, the clerk finished his conversation and turned to help him. He was glad he had called ahead. Check in went without a hitch, and he set off toward the row of elevators.
As the elevator rose, he shifted the brown leather satchel to his other shoulder. It was only infinitesimally heavier than when he had arrived at his uncle’s. He always packed basic and had never been one to carry around souvenirs or mementos. Still, he hadn’t been able to resist the angel candlestick from the unusual Unworldly Treasures shop in Chalmette. He knew Angel would love it. His heartbeat quickened. He could hardly wait to hold her in his arms again. The face on the candlestick resembled hers, the way she gazed up into his eyes, all soft and yielding. Word for Angel, sweetness. He knocked on the door and heard her sweet voice call for him to come in. He pushed open the door, a broad smile on his face, and then a whirlwind of commotion occurred. Angel hurled an object at him. He ducked, and the object thudded against the wall. He backstepped and picked it up–a high fashion, high heeled shoe. He stared at her, his jaw dropping. Sweet.
I hope you enjoyed the snippet incorporating the shoe image. Thanks for stopping by. If you haven’t done so already, check out the other excerpts at Tuesday Tales.
Cheers & Happy Reading!
