Can you believe it’s November? Where did October go? Welcome to Tuesday Tales, where authors write weekly excerpts incorporating word and picture prompts. The word prompt this week is sticky. The excerpt is from Silver’s Angel, a paranormal fantasy romance in the Wytchfae Series. When you finish reading my snippet, make sure to visit all the talented authors of Tuesday Tales.
An ocean breeze swept the deck. Sunlight dappled on their outstretched legs. Sated from breakfast, they had decided to enjoy a second cup of coffee out in the open air. Angel placed her cup on the adjacent stand and stifled a yawn. “The cinnamon nut muffin may have been a mistake.”
As if catching it from her, Lucien’s throat bobbled as he also swallowed a yawn.
She lifted her shades with two fingers and surveyed him. “I don’t know what’s gotten into Harjo, but yesterday was brutal. You haven’t had much sleep. Why don’t you close your eyes for a few?”
He grinned. “You want to catch a catnap yourself, don’t you?”
“Maybe,” she teased.
He raised her hand to his mouth and pressed warm lips against the knuckles.
She couldn’t see his eyes for his dark sunglasses but knew they were glittering at her in that sexy way he had.
Keeping his fingers entwined with hers, he rested their arms between them on the double lounger. After a deep breath, his head fell back and nestled against the seat.
Hers did the same. In moments their pulses were syncing, like a background hum anchored by a tom-tom. It comforted her, and she allowed her eyelids to close.
A rustling noise roused her from the precipice of letting go. She blinked, eyes watering. A shadow crossed their bodies. Cody loomed there, brandishing a tablet as if it were some vile insect he’d found crawling in his room.
Lucien jerked up, giving her hand a little squeeze before releasing it. “What’s going on?” The words were slurred and heavy. He rubbed a finger across one eyebrow.
“Either Duff has lost his mind or some damn toad hacked our website and added a sticky.” Cody’s voice shook with outrage.
Lucien reached for the tablet. “Sticky? What the hell are you talking about?”
“They inserted a headline and coded it not to scroll. Once you click in the field—the yellow banner—” Cody’s finger thumped at the fat yellow streak splayed across the screen— “the cursor sticks there.”
Angel tilted her head to see the screen. Within the banner a headline blared: “Silver’s Angel- from Runway Sylph to Topless Rocker Babe.” A photo of her and Lucien in a hot clinch appeared beneath.
I hope you enjoyed the snippet incorporating the word prompt sticky. Thanks for stopping by. Check out the other excerpts at Tuesday Tales.

Flossie Benton Rogers, Conjuring the Magic in Romance
Excellent scene. Love the way you used the prompt!
Thank you, Susanne.
Uh-oh. Someone is out to get them.
Great excerpt, Flossie. I loved the transition from leisurely warmth to troubled ending!
Glad you love the transition, Mae.
ooooh, not fun that the hacked stuck that to the top of the website. Very naughty of them. AND very clever use of the word prompt. I love how in sync the two of them are. Jillian
It’s horrible to get under the control of a hacker.
for sure 🙁
Great scene. I love how you worked the word prompt in there. Very creative!
Thanks, Trisha.
How cool to understand how a “sticky”‘ would work in technology! I wouldn’t have a clue. And to do that to discredit her, amazingly hostile thing to do! But I love their sleepiness together. They are such a great pair. I hope they can put this vile act to rest. Yes, great use of the word prompt.
A devious trick for sure.
Uhoh! I love the way you started out the warm peaceful scene and jarred it to a stop with the news. Great job!
Ooh, yeh, an unfortunate surprise.
