Hero:  Osondu, her son, who—as one of the Walking Dead—returns briefly to his family in the land of the living before assuming a position in the spiritual realm.

Major Themes: Death is not the end and is not to be feared, human life is limited in understanding but also has stories with gems of truth, spiritual life can be free and beautiful, spirits have tasks to help others—including humans, time is not a straight line, spirits can learn to travel among worlds, many realms exist including strange and fanciful ones.

Descriptors: Igbo mythology of Nigeria, land of the gods

Favorite Supporting Character: Pape Eziugo, who stays too long among the humans and forgets his true spiritual nature until Gloria helps him.

Memorable Line – God, the Tree, bounced about the scene and tilted constantly to whisper something to each of the little breeze gods.

Fun Tidbit: I love this delightful, profound book.
