Numerology is based on the concept that everything in the universe resonates to a unique vibration that can be described by the meaning and attributes of numbers. This ancient divinatory art dissects names, words, birthdates, colors, and the symbols that make up our world. If you think about it, what is a name but a symbol for a person, thing, or other being? What is a word but a symbol for an object, action, or idea? I’m starting in a rather unusual place with this numerology post. Normally I would begin with a simpler discussion of birthdates and life numbers. This is a golden opportunity, however, with Monday being the 22nd day of the month. In numerology, numbers are generally reduced to a one-digit number from 1 to 9. Master numbers are an exception and always considered in their original form, as well as their reduced form. The ones we will look at today are 11 and 22. In some methodologies, 33 is also designated a master number.
11
Being an odd number, 11 is considered yang, masculine (energy only, not the male sex), and active. It thrusts outward and gives. It cannot be indicated by the first pass of human fingers 1-10, and its mystery touches upon the realms beyond human. It has affinity with spirituality, art, and creativity. Interestingly, its reduced form of 2 (because 1+1=2), being an even number, expresses the opposite yin attributes. Close bonding and partnership are often secret needs of persons who resonate with 11. If applied, the combination of masculine and feminine can provide a unique symmetry and balance.

22
The master number 22 is considered yin, feminine (energy only, not the female sex), and passive. As feminine, it yields and receives. Its reduced form of 4 is also feminine. Think of the four stable legs of a chair, the four sides of a cube, the four seasons. 22 contains the energy of 4 (because 2+2=4). The number 22 is the number of branches on the tree of life in the Kabballah, as well as the number of Major Arcana in a tarot deck. It approaches genius, divine imagery, and revelation.
February 11, 2016
How does this affect you? Let’s consider the master numbers from the standpoint of your birthdate. Add the numbers of the month, day, and year you were born. As an illustration, let’s take a child who is born February 11, 2016. In numerology the date is viewed 2-11-2016. The first part of the child’s life resonates with the number 2, the middle part of life leans toward the attributes of 11, and the latter part culminates in the vibration of the number 9 (2+0+1+6=9).
The second part of life, associated with 11, expresses intuition, creativity, artistic endeavors, and unconventional attitudes. The number 11 also reveals something about the person’s personality and behavior. When she is really feeling the energy of 11, a person may come across as somewhat spacey. A person resonating to 11 is intuitive, creative, artistic, and visionary. Tuning into the reduction of 11, or 2 (because 1+1=2), will provide more balance. However, get this: On a final note, add the entire birthdate 2-11-2016. The process is (2+1+1+2+0+1+6=13). Then add the two digits of 13 to get the overall number 4 (1+3=4). The number 4 is the overall keynote vibration for our example child. I’d say with all the creativity of 11 mixed with practicality of 4 she has a lot going for her.
February 22, 2016
In numerology, the birthdate, February 22, 2016, is viewed as 2-22-2016. The first and last parts of life are as described above. The middle part of life, as well as something of the personality and behavior, leans toward the attributes of 22, combining vision with practicality. 22 indicates the practical ability to organize goals into time-measured, concrete objectives, thus leading to successful completion. This type of personality, dedicated and set on success, can come across as overbearing, impersonal, and insensitive at times. They are called the Master Builder and often leave a lasting legacy affecting the common good. Adding the entire birthdate (2+2+2+2+0+1+6=15). Then add the digits of 15 to get 6 (1+5=6). The number 6, often affiliated with healing and nurturing, is the overall keynote number of our second example child. I’d say she has a lot going for her too.
Not an 11 or a 22
What? You say your birthdate doesn’t add up to 11 or 22? Well, what is your number? Add together the digits of your birth month, day, and year. Don’t worry, we’ll look at it next time. For now here’s a quick number chart to whet your appetite. 1-individual, 2-loving, 3-energetic, 4-stable, 5-adventurous, 6-nurturing, 7-magical, 8-material, 9-universal.

You lost me at numbers lol I’m no math fan
LOL, Cathy;)
Wow, numerology is complicated. I remember reading up on it back in my school days, but don’t remember a lot about it. When it comes to numbers, I love the twelve, although it doesn’t factor into my birth date at all.
Mae, I remember how you like the number 12, which is connected to myth and the distant past in many ways. Using numerology, 12 adds up to 3. I think 3 is a great number for a versatile, energetic author.
Oooh, I like those connections! 🙂
Fascinating post, Flossie. I work out to be an 11 or 2 which is kind of a surprise to me. I’ll have to work out the numbers for others in my family.
11 is visionary and with the 2 comes helping family and caring.
Fascinating as well as quite difficult. I don’t know what I add to in the end as I have 1 and 9 in my birthdate(both day and year) but my favorite numbers are 9 and 19.
It’s real science and even a bit mysterious, I think. Thanks for sharing!
9 is a divine number in many mythologies. It corresponds to the universal, completion of a cycle. It was my mother’s favorite number too. 19 has an allure and adds to 1, for new beginning, initiative, leader, self-starter, motivated.
