Nuummite is a rare mineral named for the area of Greenland where it was discovered in 1810. It is a black stone with fiery flecks of gold and is sought after for its beauty and esoteric qualities. It is known as the oldest mineral on earth and is imprinted with the creativity of our ancient mother earth and of the womb of stars from which we come. I love that its dynamic origins are thoughts to be 3 billion years old. Its turbulent formation by volcanic action all those aeons ago involved the metamorphosis of igneous rock. True nuummite of gemstone quality is found and mined in Greenland in a region accessible only by boat.
Nuummite is called “the sorcerer’s stone” or “magician’s stone.” The power is intense and not for the faint hearted. Its vibration is that of the deepest of earth energies and to resonate with the power of nuummite is to cast out your shadows so that they may be seen and vanquished. There is something of grace about how it happens. I think it levels karma in some way. It removes blockages and aligns the chakras, including those of all levels and layers of being. It particularly burns off dead residue from the emotional body. You become freer to experience the forces that match your strongest, most magical inner self. The sensation is that of touching upon a magical world or alternate reality. When you are attuned to the energy of nuummite, you’ll notice an increase in synchronicity as far as outer reality goes. It is as if reality is shaken up and presented to you in nonlinear ways so that you can better examine your life patterns and shed old outdated forms and the dried husks of behaviors that no longer serve. Nuummite enhances innate psychic abilities and spiritual affinities. Bright energy comes through, and your true inner reality tends to become manifest.
What is your emotional reaction as you peer at the picture of the nuummite heart and ponder its ancient and rich heritage?

I’d never even heard of this stone, but what a powerful stone to own!
It is, Mishka, and you just have to be aware that you can’t keep it on or near you all the time.
This is a stone I was unfamiliar with, but looking at the photo it seems to speak of something archaic but strong. Interesting that the stone is in the shape of a heart, because then I will speculate further, and say it makes me think of love that is infinite, able to stand the test of time. A thought close to my own heart!
A thought close to my heart, too, Mae. I’m glad you feel the archaic aspect of the nuummite.
I don’t know this stone but it sounds as though it has some of the qualities of Lapis Lazuli, a stone I find I have to handle with care. I am growing into my Lapis in small steps. Looking at this image I was struck by the feeling I saw the birth of the cosmos encapsulated in the stone. Far flung stars, clusters of cloudy debris, and the light piercing darkness. A beautiful set of images.
Yes, nuummite does have to be handled with care, and you can’t keep it on or near you all the time. That’s interesting about the lapis, Daisy. Have you handled kyanite and does it come across similar to lapis for you? Oh, how wonderful to see the birth of the cosmos in the nuummite. A beautiful vision. Thank you for sharing.
Never heard or seen this special stone. Amazing what powerful qualities it possesses!
To me it suggests the strength of mother Earth, mysteries of renewal and rebirth.
I love all this information on stones/jewels. I used one – the jet – in a story that is still in progress.Another powerful stone.
I’m fascinated by your take on nuummite, Carmen, and love that you feel the strength of mother earth and her gifts of renewal and rebirth. That sounds so intriguing about using jet in your story. Black stones are deep, aren’t they?
