Guest Jamallah Bergman

I am so excited about today’s interview with the lovely Jamallah Bergman!

Q: What inspired you to write in your genre?

A: Well I decided to write about Interracial because mainly it’s a topic that I am very much for. Love holds no bonds when it comes to two people who might be of different races. It’s a topic that is very near and dear to me for I believe that love can be found between two people regardless of race.

Q: What is the hardest part about writing?

A: I think for any writer, the hardest part of it is taking criticism from others as far as reviews are concerned. This topic I have seen time and time again being brought up by my fellow authors. Even though I honestly can say that I do not mind getting a bit of criticism from someone over a review on my work, I can tell whether the comments they make are helpful or just down right hurtful. This is something that I honestly don’t tolerate and I know that a lot of other authors don’t either. But honestly there is nothing that you can do or say about the comments. Just take it with a grain of salt and keep on doing what you do best….which is write another good and better story than the last.

Q: Who is your favorite secondary character in your latest book and why?

A: I would have to say Frank, Cathy’s cousin and Rodrigo’s best friend. He plays a pivotal role in the story itself even though it’s not known at first. He’s the one that brings the two of them together because he knows that Cathy has been through so much and only wants the best for her since they have grown up together since they were kids. He also knows that Rodrigo would be a good man for her because he had once loved someone but fell out of it. He wants to see the two people he loves the most happy and that’s honestly all we want in our lives is a bit of happiness and to see the ones we know that truly deserve it to have it as well.

Q: What stories do you have planned for us in the future?

A: Well I have another book coming out in May, it will be the 2nd book of the “Wrong Number series” called ‘Constant Surprises’. This book will continue the story of Roy Fulton, who was in the 1st book ‘Sorry…Wrong Number’.

I also will have another book coming out which will be a start of a four book series. Each book will deal with the Cipriano’s of Kellington, Italian brothers who with each book will tell their stories. The first book called ‘Renzo’ which deals with the oldest brother will be out in June. I’m very excited about these four books.

Q: What do you hope readers come away with when they read one of your books?

A: I hope that when someone grabs hold of one of my books, that once they read it, it will bring back some memories in their life to where they can relate to what my heroine or hero has or is going through. I want their minds to roam and their hearts to beat a bit faster with not only excitement but also with the love that my couple feels for each other.

Q: If you could time travel, when and where would you go?

A: I would love to go to medieval England, during the time of King Henry or Queen Elizabeth. I sometimes feel that I was probably British in a former life (I know that sounds silly) but I feel at times I have some sort of kinship towards all things British.

Q: If you could be a mythological or fantasy being, who or what would you be?

A: I would love to be a fairy causing mischief and seeing what I can get into.

Q: What movie would you watch over and over?

A: To Kill a Mockingbird, most definitely my most FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME!

Q: Rose, sunflower, violet, or lily?

A: Sunflower, I really love the color!

Q: If you knew the apocalypse was coming, what authors/books would you take with you to your bug out location?

A: All of J.R.Ward’s ,Diana Gabaldon’s books, Stephen King’s books and any other books I can find that I haven’t read yet to read.

BLURB

All she ever wanted was her father’s love.

Cathy Sanderson tries her best to impress her father despite his resentment over her. She seemed to contemplate most days, “Why me? Why do you hate me so daddy?”

He’d belittle her about every little thing. The pain and anguish she felt as his only child had her day dreaming that one day he would treat her special.

Cathy loves her father and tries to make him proud of her, but everything she tried, never seemed to work.

Her shyness plays against her, and makes her a prisoner within her own mind.

She feels nothing in her nonexistent life could be made any better.

Until, she met him.

Rodrigo “Rod” Coram lives the life that most men fantasize about. He’s the owner of a fabulous club, The Orchid Lounge. He has great clients, great friends and the eyes of every woman around.

One thing Rod didn’t have was a woman to love.

Rod’s best friend Frank asked him for his help. He needed an extra groomsman for his cousin’s wedding.

That’s when fate brings an unloved woman, and a man looking for love, together.

New Love.  Secrets.  Regrets. Two people find each other, but their personal lives may keep them apart.

EXCERPT

When she woke from her slumber that morning, all she could see was his chest— so broad, muscular, and smooth with the smell of soap that hit her nose. She lightly touched him while he soundly slept and she remembered what he had told her the other night, “I’m falling in love with you, Cathy Sanderson.”

Never in her life had a man said such sweet words. Cathy never thought that anyone, especially a man like Rod, would have anything to do with a woman like her. She was fat for one and, in her eyes, not as pretty as most of the girls he was probably used to. She remembered when they were in the club, the girls with skimpy outfits that showed way too much for her taste. Cathy wondered what he saw in her compared to them. Looking up into his face, his features were so soft and peaceful that even though she wanted to touch his face, she was scared to wake him up.

This could all be yours she thought to herself while looking over his body along those pajama pants of his. Cathy remembered the feeling of hardness against her ass while they had been shooting pool. She knew what was going on. Even though she was naïve in some aspects of life, as far as the sexual aspects between two people…well, she was still a bit naïve regardless of what she thought.

He will be my first, my first and only lover.

  1. Loved the interview. You mentioned interracial. My family is colorful, black, hispanic, white and American Indian. Do you write characters of multiple racial identities? Are they in coping situations? I would love to read more.

    1. Hello Lyn,

In ‘The Admssion’, Rod is hispanic, most of my characters, especially the heroines are usually coping with some kind of problem, just like we do in the real world like depression, loss of family, etc. to where even though they try to let it go, it’s something that keeps bothering them to move on towards their future. Most of my stories usually deal with that but eventually towards the end of the story, the hero shows them the love that they want and desire and need.

I like to try and keep my characters as real to life as possible. I want the reader to know that you are not alone. That even characters in books deal with some of the things that we deal with on a daily basis.

    1. I have a lot of Cobalt Blue Glass items (it’s something I collect a lot of) and whenever I get the sunflowers, I put them in this beautiful Blue Vase I have….I love the color contrast….the bold blue against the sunny yellow of the flowers.

And I’m glad you enjoyed the excerpt Lena! 😀
