Four Intriguing Questions

FrogBlogHopMany thanks to Ronnie Allen for inviting me to participate in this fun blog hop! Please visit her site to see her answers to the questions.

  1. What are you working on now?

Time Singer is Book 4 of the Wytchfae series for Secret Cravings Publishing. In the Wytchfae world, the fae have the luxury of being able to time travel. Such travel is made possible through a Time Singer, a powerful fae with a strong magical ability to call forth and spread the moments of the time stream. Time Singer tells the story of one such individual. Seraphina Lacey is a Wytchfae (a human witch with a smattering of fae blood running in her veins) who is thrust back to the long ago age when the Tuatha or first fae beings came to dwell among humans.

  1. How is your current WIP different from others in the genre?

All of the books in the Wytchfae series are romances but also are paranormal dark fantasies– think urban fantasy with a happy ending. Each book has a different hero and heroine, although some cross over to make cameo appearances. Each book of the series features fae time travel, a horse, Florida, and is an action-packed adventure.

  1. Why do you write?

I’ve been writing all my life and penned my first fairy tale as a child. Writing is a way of delving into the fairy tales and mythology that I love so much. Plus, writing is a passion and obsession. After retirement my beloved husband Ronnie encouraged me to write full time. I began to learn the craft of modern novel writing, with a thousand thanks to author and writing mentor Loretta C. Rogers.

  1. How does your writing process work?

I’m still figuring that out! Seriously, the process gets refined and tweaked with each book. After the Wytchfae world made itself known to me, the characters of the first book began to introduce themselves. I knew the first hero would be a Viking. During the writing of each book, I get a strong feeling of the characters who want to be the stars of the next book in the series.

My writing process includes some planning but not in excruciating detail. I start with the main characters, the era they will time travel to, and a general idea of where the story will go and how it will end up. Along the way the characters themselves inform much of the motivation and action and new fae beings slink out of the dark forest.

  1. I wasn’t quite done with my reply, but accidentally hit post, LOL. Anyway, I happen to adore frogs …and writing, so this was a fun post. Your writing process sounds much like mine, Flossie. I have my head wrapped around the main characters, an idea of setting and the basic plot premise, then the characters take control from there. I liked your reference about new fae beings slinking out of the dark forest 🙂 Looking forward to becoming better acquainted with your fae series!

  2. I always find it interesting to discover how other authors work. I love the sound of these stories. My TBR list just got longer. Good luck with the next part of the series.

  3. Thanks for the invite to join the hop, Flossie! And I am intrigued about your next book, since I feel a certain attraction to the tales of the Tuatha (must be my Irish bloodline waking up!)
