All hail the Amazon Queen, Penthesileia, brave participant in the Trojan War.
All these to battle fared with warrior-souled
Penthesileia: even as when descends
Dawn from Olympus’ crest of adamant,
Dawn, heart-exultant in her radiant steeds
Amidst the bright-haired Hours; and o’er them all,
How flawless-fair soever these may be,
Her splendour of beauty glows pre-eminent;
So peerless amid all the Amazons Unto
Troy-town Penthesileia came.
Penthesileia has always been fascinating to me. Who are your favorites from the Trojan War?
Cheers & Happy Reading!

I have to admit I don’t know many from the Trojan War. Shameful, I know! 🙂
I am always fascinated by which gods were on the Greek side and which on the Trojan side, Mae.
I liked Zeus and Apollo who chose to remain impartial.
I am sure there was a real war that gave birth to this beautiful creation. Thus the famous saying: ..” timeo danaos et dona ferentes.”
Yes, I definitely think so. I always feel compassion for them, especially poor Cassandra who foretold all.
