Mercy, it was no fib yesterday when I said we’d not imbibe the Earl Grey. In this cocktail I prefer a stronger variety of tea such as English Breakfast. To complement the Vintage Friday post depicting ladies’ handkerchief holders, it seems fitting on Cocktail Saturday to celebrate with a Hot Tea Toddy. It’s a delicious pick-me-up, perfect for an icy winter’s day.
Ingredients: 1 ounce cognac, 1 tablespoon honey, 2 teaspoons lemon juice, 1 cup of hot tea
Directions: Swirl the honey onto the bottom of a tea cup. Add the cognac and lemon juice and then the steaming hot tea. Relish this sumptuous warming cocktail, and don’t forget to extend your pinky!
I need to go buy a bottle of cognac to splash into my tea. I’m also practicing pointing my pinkie :p
Ok, good job. Glad you are getting into the New Year’s spirit! Enjoy that toddy.
Love the pointing pinkie reference. As it turns out I think I have some cognac stored away and shall have to try this. Tuesday, the high is going to be 3 degrees. It sounds like the perfect night cap after a chilly day. I’ll have to make a note to whip some up. Pinkie extended, of course 🙂
With the weather you are having, you definitely need a hot tea toddy! 3 degrees? Brrrr! We’re in the 30s at night here, and I’m freezing. Freezing but cuddled up in a soft blanket with basset hound Daisy Josette:)
