Congratulations to AnnQ, winner of my book for the Secret Cravings Publishing blog hop! She has proven herself a detective worthy of the great Nero Wolfe himself. Her name was randomly drawn from answers denoting the correct general area suggested by the clues.
Huge thanks to all who stopped by and left a comment. I appreciated your taking the time to do that. The blog hop was loads of fun and a big success.
Here is some more information about my clues:
Florida is known as the Sunshine State, and the climate is humid subtropical. If you travel down into South Florida, you will encounter pure tropical conditions. I remember once when my son was little, and he came home and reported that his teacher said Florida was a desert.I laughed. I had never heard that before. It’s true, though, that Florida has lots of sand. I don’t just mean sandy beaches. Forest and pasture areas are full of sugar sand, and please be careful if you drive down a private unpaved road (speaking from experience). Thankfully, the state also has an abundance of rain and green trees.
Spanish explorers bestowed Florida’s name– pertaining to flowers— on Easter Sunday, 1513. Wow, it’s amazing that was 500 years ago. I always envy the aeons of history found in other parts of the world but am thankful that with our Native American history, we have thousands of years.
Manatees or sea cows are a source of fascination and entertainment in our location. Boaters sometimes grouse about the slow speeds required in manatee zones, but the “real mermaids” are very special to most.
I didn’t even mention gators, skeeters, and the largest cattle ranches in the United States!
If you haven’t visited us lately, what’s the hold up?
Thanks again to all who participated in the blog hop!
