Don’t you sometimes get an urge for a taste of citrus? In the late spring and summertime, fresh juicy limes are particularly refreshing. They give the assurance of health and nature in all her bounty and go wonderfully well with gin. Although gin’s reputation is not as glamorous as it used to be, that herbal delight is making a comeback. That’s great news for those of us who relish its juniper berry flavor. On a hot afternoon while lounging around the pool, try this sparkling treat.
LONG TALL GIN & TONIC
Ingredients: 5 large ice cubes (preferably made from tonic water), 3 ounces gin, 6 ounces tonic water, limes for garnish. Diet tonic water is fabulous in this concoction.
Directions: In a tall, narrow collins glass, drop in the ice cubes. Pour in the gin, and then the tonic. Stir together. Garnish with lime slices. Enjoy!
