Vintage Friday: Words of Wisdom 1952

ThrowYourHeartOvertheBar1What do these words mean to you? In my mind they mean to have faith and believe you can do something with your whole being–like a pole vaulter who seems to magically rise in the air and sail over the bar. Act as if you can do it, proceed as if you can do it–and you will. The words made a lasting impression on me from Norman Vincent Peale’s book The Power of Positive Thinking, first published in 1952. Have you read that one?

  1. I like the quote, thanks for sharing!
I’ve never read this book you are speaking about, but there’s this general idea that positive thinking helps overcome many problems. Even illness. I do believe it.

  2. Great inspirational line. I haven’t read the book but it sounds like a winner. Every now and then we need to be reminded about what we can accomplish when we put our mind to it!
