Sad News: Secret Cravings Closes

BREAKING NEWS

Friends:

This is a difficult post to write. For those of you who haven’t heard, my publishing company, Secret Cravings, closed its doors as of 9/1. Over 200 authors got the word Monday night. The fact that this is an all too frequent occurrence in the publishing world doesn’t make it hurt any less. The head of the company, Sandy Sullivan, is a class act and will revert our book rights back to us. In the meantime, my books will begin to disappear from the online distributors. Of course, that is the hardest thing to bear, but rest assured I will get the books back up and available again for you as soon as possible. Thank you for your support and encouragement. My lifelong dream has hit a big bump and a crossroad, but the way continues to someplace even more interesting and exciting. Stay tuned!

  1. Oh, what a shock! What a shock!
I fully understand your sadness, dear Flossie. My heart is with you.
It was one of the publishers I had in mind in case the others I submitted to rejected my submission.

It so often happens to small publishers. I harbor the fear mine could go down too one day.
I see their staff diminishing with every season. Now they accept only in -the -house -authors.

Brace up and see perhaps other publishers will accept you. They surely will do it.
What happens to the 2 books in the series? I know you were working on them.
A thought – why don’t you try Wild Rose Publishing? It’s a larger publisher and has numerous staff.
    Keeping fingers crossed for you!

  2. What tragic devastating news! I am so sorry to hear this, Flossie. I simply can’t imagine how you must feel. It is so sad to see a small press close their doors. You are, however, a wonderful writer and story-teller with faithful fans. I don’t think you’ll have any problems in finding another house. You’ve also got a strong online presence which is important. As Carmen said, Wild Rose is a great suggestion, and I also recommend Lyrical Press who has been my publisher for years.

I’ve also found (through a few releases) that there is a lot to be said for going indie, too. Your friends are here for you and will continue to offer you all the support you need. If I can be of help or assistance in any way, please don’t hesitate to email me.

  3. I suggest consider going INDE. Then you don’t have to worry about this traumatic event ever happening again. You still have your readers and your name. You’ll be fine as long as you get the books back out there.

  4. Cyber-hugs, Flossie. This is a heart-wrenching event. I can’t imagine what Sandy is going through. You have a lot of options at your fingertips so all is not lost.
