Fabulous Fragrance: Moon Dance

High among my current top fragrances is Moon Dance by Juliette Has a Gun. The scent puts me in mind of flowers blooming at midnight, but not jasmine. It is an expensive fragrance that I finally found on sale at frangrancenet for about one third of the original price. Everything about the presentation calls out “high end,” including the hardy, substantial decanter.

The fragrance is so fabulously blended that it’s hard to decipher individual notes. The first spray wafts in a sweet spiciness hovering over a velvet background. It is incredibly hypnotic and sensual. As another user mentioned, it smells purple. Later the scent develops an enticing milky quality that adds to its longevity. As time passes, the fragrance seems to integrate and become part of one’s very soul essence. Did I say how much I love Moon Dance?

Moon Dance is a chypre white floral. Key notes are tuberose, violet, rose, patchouli, and bergamot. As I said, the blend is exquisite in its perfected oneness. Users on Fragrantica give it a 4.27 out of 5 and overwhelmingly love it rather than like or dislike. How did I find Moon Dance? Among a group of violet perfume samples I ordered! It’s amazing what expert noses can do with violet.

Have you tried Juliette Has a Gun’s Moon Dance? What are your favorite fragrances?

  1. I’ve never tried it but the name is enticing and the fact that it incorporates patchouli (one of my all time faves) makes it intriguing! 🙂

  2. If Mae hasn’t heard if it, then you can imagine I haven’t either. It sounds heavenly. I am also fond of nice fragrances. This is how I remember my mother. always smelling nice!
As you say Moon Dance, it brings to my mind the flower “night queen”. Do you know it? White flowers, blooming only in the evening with a divine scent.
