Monstrous Hurricane Irma on the Warpath

With vicious Hurricane Irma bearing down on my home state of Florida, my thoughts turn to good wishes and prayers for the safety of all in her path. The islands along her way were devastated. When she leaves Florida, other states will feel the remnants of her wrath. Wider than the state, this is the largest and most determined hurricane we have seen, and we’ve seen many here in Florida. She seems to have picked a path and is sticking with it. The current eye track leads right over my town.

We have spent the last few days preparing as best we can. We’re all in a similar situation, hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. Stores keep running out of gas, water, and bread. Tempers can be short, but compassion wins out in the end most times.

In Florida 5.6 million people were asked to evacuate. That doesn’t always mean leave Florida. Many times it means seek higher ground. However, out of necessity thousands of folks are on the slow treadmill of the roads heading north, and my heart goes out to them.

Special thanks to the weather people to whom we are glued, in particular for me, Paul Dellegatto of Fox Channel 13. My husband and I watched him since he started back in the old Roy Leep days, and I know we can count on Paul to keep us straight. Don’t you feel better just looking at the face of your longtime weatherman?

A big thanks to all the emergency personnel, including my son and daughter-in-law. You are out there working to keep people safe, as you do every day. Hopefully, the Snickerdoodles can look on this as an somewhat of an adventure, as my son did when he was a kid and I did as a small child during Hurricane Donna.

Prayers for all, and thanks my dear friends for your good thoughts. Once the sunshine returns, it will be time for a wine party!

Sad News: Secret Cravings Closes

BREAKING NEWS

Friends:

This is a difficult post to write. For those of you who haven’t heard, my publishing company, Secret Cravings, closed its doors as of 9/1. Over 200 authors got the word Monday night. The fact that this is an all too frequent occurrence in the publishing world doesn’t make it hurt any less. The head of the company, Sandy Sullivan, is a class act and will revert our book rights back to us. In the meantime, my books will begin to disappear from the online distributors. Of course, that is the hardest thing to bear, but rest assured I will get the books back up and available again for you as soon as possible. Thank you for your support and encouragement. My lifelong dream has hit a big bump and a crossroad, but the way continues to someplace even more interesting and exciting. Stay tuned!

Wytchfae Runes Book Cover

I was thrilled to receive the gorgeous book cover art for Wytchfae Runes.  Artist Dawné Dominique is brilliant. I love the cover so much! It depicts the supernova attraction of faery witch Kelly and Viking ghost Ingvar, as well as their mysterious world. Wytchfae Runes is scheduled to be published by Secret Cravings Publishing in October 2012.
